Featured Products

Capsicum (shimla mirch) is one of those vegetables that instantly adds colour and crunch to any dish. Whether it’s the regular green one or the sweeter red and yellow varieties, it’s used across all kinds of cooking - from everyday sabzi to Chinese-style dishes.
At Prakritii Organics, our capsicum is grown without chemical sprays or artificial fertilisers. This matters because capsicum is known to absorb pesticides easily due to its thin skin. With organic produce, you don’t have to worry about that.
We select capsicum that is fresh, firm, and naturally shiny - the kind you can tell is good just by looking at it.

Health Benefits & Nutrition

Capsicum is especially rich in vitamin C, which helps with immunity and overall health. In fact, red capsicum has even more vitamin C than many fruits.
It also contains antioxidants and fibre, which support digestion and help keep the body healthy. Since it’s low in calories, it’s a great vegetable to include in daily meals.

How to Use & Storage

Capsicum is very easy to use and works in both raw and cooked forms.
You can chop it into salads, add it to sandwiches, or mix it into raita for a fresh crunch. When cooked, it becomes softer and slightly sweet, making it perfect for sabzis like aloo-capsicum or paneer-capsicum.
It’s also commonly used in fried rice, noodles, and even stuffed dishes where you fill it with potato or paneer masala.
Keep capsicum in the fridge, preferably in the vegetable drawer.
Try not to cut it until you’re ready to use it, as it spoils faster once cut. When stored properly, it stays fresh for about 5–7 days.

FAQs

Which colour capsicum is most nutritious?

Red capsicum is the most nutritionally dense of the three colours because it is the fully ripe form - green capsicum is unripe, yellow is partially ripe, and red is fully ripe. Red capsicum contains the highest levels of vitamin C, beta-carotene, and antioxidant carotenoids. All three colours are nutritious, but red provides the most concentrated nutritional benefit per gram.

Why is organic capsicum specifically important to buy over conventional?

Capsicum consistently appears in pesticide residue surveys as one of the highest-residue vegetables in conventional produce. Its smooth, thin skin absorbs surface sprays readily. Organic capsicum from Prakritii has had no contact with synthetic pesticides at any stage of growing, meaning the skin is safe to eat and the flesh is completely residue-free.

Can capsicum be eaten raw without cooking?

Yes - capsicum is entirely safe and nutritious to eat raw. Eating it raw actually preserves its high vitamin C content better than cooking, as vitamin C is a heat-sensitive nutrient that reduces with prolonged heat exposure. Raw capsicum in salads, chaats, and sandwich fillings is an excellent way to access its full vitamin C content.

How do I roast capsicum at home?

Hold the whole capsicum directly over a medium gas flame using tongs, turning every 30–45 seconds, until the skin is charred and blistered all over. Place immediately in a covered bowl for 10 minutes - the steam loosens the skin. Peel off the charred skin under running water, remove seeds, and use the roasted flesh for gravies, dips, or pasta sauce. The roasting process adds a distinctive smoky depth that raw capsicum cannot replicate.

How long does organic capsicum stay fresh after delivery?

Stored whole and unwashed in the refrigerator crisper, organic capsicum stays fresh for 5–7 days. Once cut, use within 2 days and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Capsicum that has started to wrinkle slightly on the surface is still safe to eat - just cook it rather than using it raw.
