Featured Products

Gajar (carrot) is one of those vegetables you’ll find in almost every Indian kitchen. It’s used in simple salads, everyday sabzis, and of course in winter favourites like gajar halwa.
At Prakritii Organics, our carrots are grown without chemical pesticides or artificial fertilisers. Since carrots grow underground, they take in whatever is present in the soil - so growing them naturally makes a real difference to what you finally eat.
We pick carrots that are firm, smooth, and evenly coloured. Fresh carrots should feel solid when you hold them and have a natural sweetness when you taste them.

Health Benefits & Nutrition

Carrots are best known for their beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. This nutrient is important for eye health, immunity, and skin.
They also provide fibre, potassium, and small amounts of other vitamins. Eating carrots regularly - whether raw or cooked - is a simple way to add more nutrients to your meals.
Raw carrots give you crunch and fibre, while cooked carrots make it easier for your body to absorb certain nutrients. Both forms are useful, so it’s good to include them in different ways.

How to Use & Storage

Carrots can be eaten both raw and cooked.
You can grate them for salads, cut them into sticks for snacking, or mix them into kachumber. For cooking, they go well in sabzis with peas or potatoes, and are often added to pulao or dal.
For something sweet, grated carrots cooked slowly with milk and a little ghee make the classic gajar halwa.
To store, keep carrots in the fridge, preferably without the green tops (if attached), as they draw moisture out. They stay fresh for about 2–3 weeks. Once cut or peeled, store in a closed container and use within a few days.

Are organic carrots better for beta-carotene than conventional carrots?

Research has found that organically grown carrots contain higher concentrations of beta-carotene and other antioxidant carotenoids than conventionally grown ones - a difference attributed to the natural stress responses that plants develop when grown without synthetic nutrient inputs. The difference is measurable but both organic and conventional carrots are good sources of beta-carotene.

Is it better to eat carrots raw or cooked for maximum nutrition?

Both raw and cooked carrots are nutritious, but in different ways. Raw carrots preserve more vitamin C and some antioxidant compounds. Cooking breaks down the cell walls and makes beta-carotene more bioavailable - your body absorbs more of it from cooked carrots than from raw. Eating carrots with a small amount of fat further improves beta-carotene absorption. Including both raw and cooked preparations in your diet gives you the benefits of both.

Should I peel organic carrots before eating?

Peeling organic carrots is a matter of preference - the skin is safe to eat since no synthetic pesticides have been applied. A light scrub with a vegetable brush under running water is sufficient to clean organic carrot skin if you prefer not to peel. The skin contains additional fibre and some concentrated nutrients. For raw preparations and salads, many people prefer the cleaner appearance of peeled carrots.

How do I store carrots to keep them fresh the longest?

Remove the green tops immediately if present - they draw moisture from the root. Store unwashed whole carrots in the refrigerator crisper in a loosely sealed bag or container. They will keep for 2–3 weeks this way. Avoid storing near ethylene-producing fruits like apples, which accelerate carrot bitterness and deterioration.

Can carrots be frozen for longer storage?

es, with blanching. Peel and cut into rounds or sticks, blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes, transfer immediately to ice water, drain, dry, and freeze in sealed bags. Frozen carrots retain their nutritional value well and are suitable for use in all cooked preparations. They lose their crunch after freezing and are not suitable for raw use once frozen.
